jean paul gaultier // elle decoration








french elle decoration have taken possession of an apartment that is being redesigned by a series of fashion leaders. jean paul gaultier has redesigned an apartment originally designed by jacques carlu, the arcitect who designed the palais chaillot. previous designers have included christian lacroix and martin margiela.

four rooms are dominated by themes that regularly inspire gaultier.
1. nautical stripes - is covered in stretched and deformed jersey to create a 'morphing' effect.

2. invitation to utopia - is a covered in ivy and lichen woven in and out of the furniture and the walls.

3. the satin powder - features a fairground doll that evolves into a huge quilt that takes over the bed.

4. the terrace - has multiple reflections of paris and the eiffel tower across its mirrored facets.

Open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm
One price: €3 per person (free for under 18s)
