ross bruggink is a graphic designer/illustrator from minneapolis and we wanted to feature some of his lovely work. he designed these beautiful wedding invites for his wedding last september. we love the letterpress, stamp, scheme, and humorous tone of voice.

cherry blossoms are the most widely cultivated cherry in japan, particularly around tokyo. when they bloom, there are viewing parties, celebration and a reason given to relax and enjoy.

the transience of their life, a quick bloom and death, is representative of mortality, giving a rich symbolic meaning to mortality.

in 1912, the mayor of tokyo presented the united states with 800 yoshino cherries. you can now view them all over the country. if in nyc, be sure to check out the brooklyn botanical garden. the festival took place the last weekend in march but you can check their site for an interactive map and bloom status of all their varietals of bloom.

we couldn't help but fall immediately in love with megan's faux desk essentials. they are nostalgically perfect. her embroidery skills are adorably sloppy, giving these pieces a real handmade feel.

space: puma house

nendo creator, oki sato, has turned his hand to expressing a new look for puma in tokyo. it was inspired by the idea of stadiums and vistory platforms. built as a show room, press room and event space in the aoyama area to be a kenetic environment - even as far as inviting people to run up and down the wooden steps.

'the steps bring a sense of movement. height and depth to the space.'

stark has built an incredible profile for herself considering she only graduated in 2005. her paper sculptures have been exhibited extensively around the US, with major shows in nyc, seattle, miami, washington dc, and chicago.

licor cafe

licor cafe is a design by tomas alonso. the licor itself is based on a traditional recipe from galicia in the north west of spain and is made from orujo, coffee beans & sugar. orujo, also known as aguardiente (literally ‘burning water’) is still made locally in many villages of the region and it is obtained from the distillation of the pomace of grapes – over 50% alcohol.

the set comprises of one bottle and five glasses to serve five friends. each friend can pick the glass of their choice, but none of them have to worry: each glass holds the same quantity of licor. whether this is something that is truly purchasable we have no idea but we love it's simplistic aesthetic.

continuing on the slight vintage french feel, here is a lovely story of a revival project. stéphane ouaknine, part of the french pharmacy market, made it a personal project to re-create and re-invent lost classic beauty and cosmetic graphics of yesteryear.

'(they spent a great deal of time) seeking out heirs to now defunct companies and obtaining permission to revive stunning vintage designs that had all but ceased to exist. working from faded scraps of ancient labels, I expanded upon the designs and created typography to extend them over complete suites of products.'
