'david pearson design' who gave us the'great loves' and 'great journeys' book covers, has come up trumps again with these beautiful covers for 'zulma'. we're running out of shelves to put them all on. www.davidpearsondesign.com

D&AD 2008

the 2008 d&ad annual arrived this week. we thought we'd post this picture which made us laugh.

Boudicca Wode

we're not easily pleased here at wmu and we have an attention span shorter than an autumn day but boudicca, the london based design duo have made our contrary week by launching a paint and scent as their first perfume. known for their dramatic victoriana influenced tailoring we're fascinated in the new theatre created by wode. the blue spray is inspired by woad, the blue dye their namesake queen boudicca and her warriors marked themselves with before battle, though their incarnation disappears minutes after spraying to leave a powerful scent that includes notes of juniper berry, cardomon, nutmeg and amber. numbers of the ravishing silver spray can are limited to 4,000 for the first run. www.boudiccawode.com

Marque

marque have been one of wmu's favorite design companies since we fell in love with their 'kshocolat' packaging. they have created the branding for rare, limited edition or hard to find denim, vinyl, trainers and sunglasses for asos.com's 'untitled' initiative. make sure you check out their website www.marquecreative.com

Chanel & Zaha Hadid

we love a new cross discipline collaboration, both for a swoon and occasionally a snigger, but in our eyes karl lagerfeld can do no wrong. this latest cosy up between chanel and zaha hadid has created a chanel contemporary art container housing the work of 20 contemporary artists as they exhibit their work inspired by elements of chanel's iconic 2.55 quilted bag. an instinctive partnership of one design revolutionary and another, it will travel from its current location hong kong to new york, london, moscow and then paris. www.chanel-mobileart.com

Pauline By Christoffer Angell

say hello to pauline, designed by christoffer angell. with production and environmental issues at the forefront of every designers mind pauline is a slip of a thing, mindfully made from just one refined single sheet of 9mm plywood. www.christofferangell.com

Dave White

here at wmu we love a talented man. we love a 'nice' talented man even more. dave white is such a fellow. when visiting his exhibition at 'kounter kulture' at the weekend he gave us an in-depth chat about his pieces and was so humble with it. his work has to be seen to be believed. it has a distinct sense of mischief without losing any technical detail or discipline. 'the oriental daily news' were bang on the mark when they heralded him 'the warhol of his generation.'  we completely agree. www.davewhite.me.uk

Art On The Underground

to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the roundel, 'art on the underground' has commissioned 100 artists to make new works of art as a response to this world-renowned design icon. the exhibition is at 'a foundation gallery,' rochelle school, arnold circus, london, e2 7es from the 9th-30th october and to get you in the mood, you could take the tube......was that a bit of a crap joke? yeah we thought so too! www.tfl.gov.uk/art
